Forum: Let Private Audiology Sector Help Fit People with Hearing Aids Faster
Hearing aid fittings in public hospitals typically face long wait times of up to 10 months due to the high demand for hearing care services.
The Society of Hearing Professionals believes private audiologists could help reduce these long wait times. They are known for their high patient satisfaction, as they allocate sufficient time to help patients use their devices effectively for five years or more. They are calling for better cooperation between the public and private sectors to jointly improve the lives of our senior population through better hearing.
Many seniors here need hearing aids, yet few use them
Devices can help stave off dementia and contribute to better physical, mental health. If you think that hearing loss is part and parcel of ageing, and is something seniors have to learn to live with, think again. More studies are showing that uncorrected hearing loss is the single most important risk factor in causing dementia.

SOCIETY OF HEARING PROFESSIONALS (SINGAPORE)
We have changed our name from “HEARING PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION (SINGAPORE)” to “SOCIETY OF HEARING PROFESSIONALS (SINGAPORE)” to reorganise our membership structure to support our constitution objectives better. This has been approved by the Registrar of Societies on 16 Feb 2023. Our constitution membership structure now recognised professional individuals as ordinary members instead of the companies. Each ordinary member has one voting right.
The inaugural AGM
After more than 3 years of background work, the Hearing Professionals Association (Singapore) is formed. The first 7 hearing aid companies from within the local hearing industry, who share the beliefs and objectives of the constitution, are now the pioneer members of this association. Together, we believe we can do more to contribute towards the common good of the local hearing care community.
